Quantum Computing

Date: 2002-04-12 13:25:45

Last weekend on Cybercafe21, Benoit Marshal (ULB researcher) tried to explain quantum physics and quantum computing.
The next major evolution in the computing history will be quantum computing.
Today, some very complex mathematical problems (like Meteo prediction, encryption code cracking,...) can not be solved with the computers we have (even a Pentium4 with WindowsXP :-) ). Their resolution would take more than the age of the universe !
With a Quantum Computer, however this kind of problems can be solved in seconds.
The theory of quantum computing is quiet difficult to understand. You will find here some links if you are interested and have some time...
